About Elyse McMeen, LMT

Elyse McMeen

Hi, I'm Elyse. I began my career in Memphis in 2004 and later spent 12 years in Nashville, where my experience deepened through close collaboration with Physical Therapists and Pilates instructors. During that time, I developed a strong understanding of how to support clients dealing with repetitive use injuries, chronic pain, and both pre- and post-operative recovery—complementing and extending the work done in physical therapy.

My bodywork practice incorporates a range of therapeutic modalities, including Deep Tissue Massage, Myofascial Release, Neuromuscular Therapy, Acupressure, and Reflexology. I am also certified in Cupping Therapy and Prenatal Massage. With a holistic and evidence-based approach, I will tailor each session to address pain management, injury prevention, postural imbalances, and overall well-being. My practice integrates structural assessment and a range of therapeutic techniques to support long-term mobility, recovery, and relaxation.

As a certified Pilates instructor, I integrate my knowledge of movement and alignment into my massage practice. Whenever appropriate, I will offer postural guidance, along with stretches and exercises that clients can incorporate after their sessions. My goal is always to help each person not only experience relief during the session, but also maintain a lasting sense of health, balance, and comfort long after they leave the table.

I am now taking appointments at Better Bodies Yoga - Bringing the gift of yoga, salt cave relaxation, and massage to the heart of East Memphis since 2004.

Therapeutic Massage

No one body is alike and no one massage is alike. Whether looking relief from stress or recovery from injuries, pain and chronic conditions each session will be designed to provide the appropriate outcome for the client. The benefits of therapeutic massage can include:

  • Anxiety
  • Digestive disorders
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Headaches
  • Insomnia related to stress
  • Myofascial pain syndrome
  • Paresthesias and nerve pain
  • Soft tissue strains or injuries
  • Sports injuries

Cupping Massage

I am a certified Cupping Therapy practitioner.

Cupping can be used to move stagnation, relieve inflammation, and encourage the drainage of fluids such as lymph or phlegm. It also helps lift and stretch soft tissue—including muscles, fascia, and connective tissue attachments—while softening scar tissue and drawing blood flow to targeted areas to support healing and improve tissue hydration.

Cupping has a sedating effect on the nervous system and is widely used to support conditions such as high blood pressure, anxiety, fatigue, insomnia, chronic headaches, neuralgia, and rheumatism.

What people say

Breen B.

My wife and I were lucky enough to get massages from you from the time we joined Inside/Out gym in the summer of 2004 until you moved to Nashville last fall. You are one of the most sensitive, intuitive massage therapists who has ever worked on either of us, and, to make it even better, you're one of the nicest human beings we've ever met. We feel privileged to have been your clients, and to call you our friend.

Susan S.

Elyse, Hands down (pun intended?) you are the best massage therapist I've ever been to. And I've been to enough that I'm an excellent judge!

Jennifer C.

I have a lot of back problems and have to be careful when choosing a masseuse as many have made my pain worse rather than improved. From my first appointment, Elyse helped alleviate my pain and I can even say my back improved thanks to my regular massage appointments with her. I would give her a high recommendation.

Lisa Buckner, Co-Owner, InsideOut Gym Memphis, TN

I am one of the owners of InsideOut Gym in Memphis and had the pleasure of doing business with Elyse both as a landlord and as a regular massage customer. I've been in the health and fitness business for 13 years, and we have had many massage therapists over the years. Elyse was head and shoulders above everyone else as a therapist and as a business woman. She was extremely professional and her practice grew steadily during the four years she was with us. I still have members ask when Elyse is coming back..or they'll ask about our new therapist and wonder if she is as good as Elyse. As an experienced massage customer who's been on many a therapist's table, I'd have to say Elyse has a perfect touch, a highly intuitive way of finding your trouble spots and the best and most effective hands I've come in contact with thus far. She is truly a therapist of the highest order.
